Evergreen plant that has always be considered sacred by multiple Indios tribes to enhance physical performance and improve hunting; many tribes also were using it to fight dysentery, soothe menstrual pains and treat diseases that weakened the body. Around this plant and its seeds were born many legends and myths. The most famous tells of two young lovers belonging to two rival tribes who, to live together decided to flee. IDuring the fescape the two young lovers were joined by their respective tribes and, to avoid being separated, they decided to die embraced by the grip of an anaconda. The rival tribes touched by the gesture asked the gods to join the spirits of the young lovers and the divinities satisfying them gave birth to a plant from the eyes of the girl, whose fruits when open remembered her black eyes: the Guaranà.
